In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In addition to the Desktop Publishing classes I have taken over the years, I have personally completed a lot of desktop publishing design projects.
I have designed intricate, multi-page programs for upcoming events, flyers, brochures, business cards, etc.

I am a certified Microsoft Office Specialist in the entire Office Suite - Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. To achieve this certification for the entire Office Suite I had to take each of Microsoft's exams - five in all, one for each program - in order to demonstrate my proficiency with the software before Microsoft would send me the certificate for each passed exam. I have all five of my Microsoft certificates in my computer portfolio and can furnish a copy of each if requested.
I have worked with Microsoft Excel for many years both personally and professionally. I am also a certified Microsoft Office Specialist for the program which means that I took and passed Microsoft's proficiency exam and was awarded and mailed their Microsoft Office Specialist credential.
In addition to the many years of experience I have working with Microsoft Outlook in office settings, I am also a certified Microsoft Office Specialist with the program. To achieve this certification I had to take and pass Microsoft's proficiency exam for Outlook. I have this certificate in my computer portfolio and can provide a copy of it if necessary.
I love the creative side of computers so I studied various forms of design in between my undergraduate and graduate school years.
Microsoft Publisher is one of the classes I became certified in because of all the different things you can design with it such as flyers, brochures, business cards, etc.

Even though I have worked with both Windows PCs and Macintosh PCs over the years, I still took and became certified in Microsoft Windows when I was studying the creative side of computers because I have always found that school will teach you something that you probably didn't know before - and I was right.
There is so much that you can do with Microsoft Windows that most of us don't even use the software to its full capabilities.
Windows allows you to customize your computer to your personal, specific preferences so that it can be both effective and enjoyable.
I have my Microsoft Windows certificates in my computer portfolio and can furnish copies if necessary.
