My name is Chris-Ann, and I'm an excellent tutor because I have experience working with students in a variety of settings. I worked as a summer camp counselor at my church for 4 years, where I led group activities that included reading, writing, and math instruction. I am also pursuing my Master's degree in elementary education at Northeastern University, so you can be sure that I am up to date on the current techniques that teachers are using in the classroom. Currently in my Master's program, I hold a 3.8 GPA. So far into my program, I have taken rigorous course work in foundations of reading, elementary mathematics, humanities, and sciences. I have also completed coursework on behavioral management. Most recently, I was a 5th grade classroom observer at the Bowen School in Newton, MA. I assisted the teacher in daily lessons, and I also led small group projects. I have experience working with children from diverse backgrounds, and having grown up in an urban area, I am familiar with various challenges that students face. Hello,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
