I have tutored English grammar for 13 years. I am the mother of a learning disabled student and understand the frustration that you and/or your child feel. I am qualified to tutor using the Spalding Reading Method - a phonics based approach that teaches 70 basic sounds of the English system. We will then take those sounds to make words using rich text that is meaningful to you/and or child. Although I have mostly worked with returning first graders, I also have experience with young adults and adults. If working with a child, I will work closely with the child's teacher to develop a program that will be most beneficial for your child's situation.
My education credentials include a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies through American International College in PreK-2, a Master's in Adult Learning through Suffolk University, and a Master's in Education Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Reading through Grand Canyon University

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a C.A.G.S. in Early Education Pre K-2 and a Master's in Elementary Education with a specialty in Reading.
I studied the Spalding Reading Method - a balanced language arts program that emphasizes phonemic awareness/phonics/fluency/and reading comprehension. These components are all endorsed by the NRP 2000 report. In addition, these components are the same components reflected in brain-based research to be effective in developing reading proficiency.
I use the latest brain-research information for improving reading, writing, and math.
I took courses in study skills at Cornell University.
My writing qualifications include grant writing for a non-profit organization, and I helped plan a major event at United Nations Association of Greater Boston during graduate studies at Suffolk University.
