Monika is an excellent tutor and starts by ensuring data is clean and there are no flaws in the study design/hypothesis. Very thorough and patient. Pleasant to work with. Very accommodating with regards to busy schedule and fitting in time when needed most.
Monika is an excellent, patient, and knowledgeable tutor. She motivates and has a wonderful personality. I am glad that she taught me. She's very flexible with days and times. I would highly recommend her. She's GREAT.
Monika is very personable, explains complicated material in a tangible manner, and is very quick to respond to e-mails!
She is well versed in statistical knowledge and was easy to understand.
Monika is awesome! I knew next to nothing about Excel before our sessions. After only a few weeks, I learned everything I needed to get a perfect score on my skills test. I highly recommend her as a tutor and I look forward to working with her again!
I am so glad I selected Monika as my tutor! She is very professional. Epidemiology has been a struggle for me but Monika has a way of simplifying the subject by providing me with helpful hints to comprehend the material, in which it was easy for me to understand. She is a brilliant tutor. She is very patient and explains concepts in a way that is simple and easy to understand. Monika’s combination of an extraordinary intellect; a passion for teaching; talented, friendly, and unassuming personality make her an exceptional tutor.
After only a few tutoring sessions with Monika, I gained a much better understanding of many complex statistical concepts as well as how I can best apply them to real-world situations. She not only has a vast knowledge of and background in theoretical and applied statistics, she also has the ability to clearly describe these statistical methodologies and provide multiple examples of their potential use. Her straightforward descriptions and illustrating examples helped me fully, and rather easily, grasp the concepts behind a number of statistical tests and their applications. Therefore, based on my experience working with Monika, I would highly recommend her to others in need of statistical tutoring.
My experience with Monika is very pleasant. Biostats used to be so complicated but she made it simple and easily understood!
Fabulous, wants you to do great, gets the assignment done perfectly with you! Very smart, fun, knows her subject matter, focused on your issues and the direction of where you are going with your work.
Monika is a great tutor, very patient, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She created the best environment for my tutoring. We worked together throughout tutoring, solving problems, interpreting and writing results. I can now proudly say I understand statistical tests, confidence interval and p- values and more. Meeting with Monika was my day's blessing. I would certainly recommend anyone struggling with bio-statistics to contact Monika.
Monika is an extremely effective tutor. She has the ability to break down complex information in a way that makes it easy for students to understand and remember. Monika also has a talent for translating what professors are really saying. Before I started working with Monika, my average in my Epidemiology was hovering around a high C. Monika helped me to zone in on the areas I was having trouble with and grasp key concepts from my textbook and lectures.
Monika is very friendly so I felt comfortable in asking her question after question. I had been away from school for a few years so my math was quite rusty, but Monika helped me gain the foundation I needed before we dove in the topic of each lecture. After working with Monika for a few months, my grades increased and I received an A- in the class. If you need help with epidemiology or stats, I highly recommend working with Monika W. - she's the best!!!
Monika was able to help me organize and analyze data I had gathered over the course of a several month experiment. I had a ton of meaningful data but little idea as to how to break it down beyond just the basic graphs. She helped me polish that project and represent my data in a clear and concise manner, with a final product that contained figures suitable for publication. She also aided in the construction of a bullet-proof presentation that detailed not only the data, but the experimental protocol. Monika was able to pull from her background in the sciences, and her expertise in epidemiology, to work comfortably on complex neuroscience material. The nature of our work together was oriented around one experiment so I cannot speak to her abilities as an educator, but I can say with assurance that she has an extremely versatile knowledge bank and was never unable to answer any questions that I had. We executed post-experiment busy work successfully and we did it together. I recommend her for any help needed with statistics, both in the classroom and out. If you are a student struggling with science/math or are a professional working in the life sciences, she is a perfect go-to.
Monika was nice enough to agree to meet me under a short (crisis) notice. She explained the basics thoroughly and was very helpful with relevant examples from real life that helped me understand the subject more. I can't thank her enough for all her amazing help!
I recommend Monika! She is the best tutor ever! She explains course content thoroughly, and makes sure you understand the material well. She helped me so much and I am so thankful I met her!
Monika has been invaluable in helping me with a research project, including tutoring me in how to perform a complex data analysis, the use of SPSS, creation of figures and tables, and paper structure. She is highly skilled and extremely methodical in data management, patient, easy to understand, and always there when you need her. Monika is everything you would want from a tutor and more. An added bonus is that she is a lovely person and great to be with! I'm sure I'll be using her services for many years to come.
Monika is an amazing resource! She is truly passionate about data management and statistical analyses and has recently helped me in multiple ways as I complete my dissertation. She is excellent at organizing data and creating clear tables and she has also helped me in SPSS. Specifically, Monika has helped me relearn how to code data, create new variables in SPSS, keep track of outputs, and score factors in exploratory factor analysis. She is highly responsive, flexible in scheduling meetings, and generally fun to be around during a process that is not always that fun. I just might finish this Ph.D.!
Monika is working wonders with my 13 year old son's trouble with Algebra 1. She identified areas of confusion right away and he is making up for lost time. We should have found her much earlier in the year. Monika also is able to connect with him personally and he looks forward to the weekly tutoring lesson. We love Monika! Thank you!
This is an enthusiastic person who will help with the thorny issues of epi/biostat. Just tell her what you need.
Monika helped me during the craziest time of the year, during the weekend and with very little notice. She was very thorough and responded to e-mail instantly. She is great! I recommend her to anyone who needs help with writing!
Monika definitely knows her stuff. Also, she is very interesting to talk to and is obviously very passionate about statistics! As well as helping you do your homework or show you the steps to solve a problem, she really explains the concepts of what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how to accurately interpret data. I found this very, very helpful and am very excited to be working with her!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken many classes in biostatistics - basics through survival analysis, logistic and other regression analysis, and some factor analysis. I have about five years of experience working with public health and medical students, as well as practicing doctors, one-on-one to teach biostatistics as it relates to their exams, classes, and projects. I am a director of a data/statistics unit at work and mentor my staff daily in biostatistics. I have tutored 3 students in biostatistics so far through WyzAnt, and all students have rated me highly.
I have an extensive vocabulary, and a strong background in reading and writing all types of documents. I can help you improve your understanding of written and conversational English. If you are fluent in English, I can help you improve the impact and clarity of your language. If you are less-than-fluent in English, and especially if you are trying to write a manuscript in English, I can definitely help you. I have helped my Chinese colleagues, for example, write their scientific papers in English.
Before I became a scientist, I served as an administrative assistant to many different types of professionals, including probation officers, engineers and physicians. Several came to me requesting guidance in improving their grammar. I taught them tricks I use to remember how to express possessives properly, whether to use an adverb or an adjective, and when it is appropriate to use a comma, as a few examples. I can give you tips to improve your grammar as well!
Microsoft Excel is an AMAZING program! It can make beautiful and informative charts and tables, but can also store data in very creative ways. For those of you who do calculations, Excel is "the" scientific calculator with all the bells and whistles. I am a superuser of Excel, and if you can tell me what you are trying to do, I can show you how to do it! I can give you examples from my past work, and even develop examples I can give you to help you with your work at hand.
As a scientist, I have extensive experience using MS Powerpoint to develop slide presentations and scientific posters. I can help the student add and format graphics, photos, text, audio, and animations to their slide presentations. I can also guide the student as to optimal slide design, optimal slide deck organization, and the optimal use of text on slides.
I am a superuser of Microsoft Word. I am comfortable teaching beginners the basics, such as page numbers, headers, footers, and tables. I'm equally comfortable teaching advanced functions, such as the use of styles, automatically generating a table of contents, and conducting a mail merge.
My previous years as an administrative support person gave me experience at proofreading many types of documents: contracts, reports, scientific publications, instruction manuals, and presentations. I would be happy to help you by proofreading your work!
Although I am an epidemiologist, I have worked in an administrative capacity in the mental health field, and have collaborated on psycho-epidemiologic studies. Those in the field of psychology who are seeking guidance in study design, research administration, proposal-writing, statistical analysis and manuscript development will find my advice very helpful, as I am an author on many published peer-reviewed articles in the psychological as well as medical journals.
I have a strong background in SAS. I have proficiency in uploading data to SAS, manipulating data in SAS, and running procs such as regressions and frequencies. I can build macros, organize code, and show you how to apply formats. I can show a person how to look online for macros and other solutions when SAS gets confusing.
My specialty is in biostatistics, but the foundation of statistics is the same in all fields. Arguably, the foundation of statistics is the most important to understand. I am very good at teaching these foundations, especially to those struggling with intro-level statistics. Those who are required to take statistics but lean more towards human services (psychologists, nurses, etc.) will enjoy my teaching style. I make these foundations "feel" real so that you can really understand them and apply them on tests and exams.
I am published as a scientific and creative writer several times over. I can help you with all types of writing, from poetry to prose, instruction manuals to federal grant applications. I'm especially helpful to people who are completing difficult applications that require writing (business loans, medical school, fellowships, etc.). I can help you organize your writing, help you keep track of and use references, and make recommendations as to clearer and concise wording. Students doing theses/dissertations have found my guidance especially useful.
Although I am not a certified instructor, I have been studying yoga for over 10 years, and taught a free class weekly at my last workplace. I have knowledge in the philosophy behind yoga, Ayurvedic traditions, and Hinduism. I can teach many physical techniques for yoga, including meditation and yoga poses ("asanas"). I'm especially good at guiding students in modifying asanas so they may be able to do them at the beginning, or to accommodate a challenge or disability. I can even help you stand on your head if you want!
