Montserrat College of Art (Fine Art and Art Ed)
I was born an artist, making marks from a very young age and selling my drawings to neighbors, family, and friends. But I learned that I am also a teacher. How did I learn this? By doing, of course, although not as one would expect. I volunteered my time working with third-graders and began incorporating art projects into the lessons they were learning. Doing this seemed so natural to me, after all art making is a form of learning. Parents loved this approach so much they exclaimed "You should be a teacher!" So, I went to college to obtain my degree and teaching certification.
I love teaching and I love art, so teaching art is really the greatest experience in the world for me. I bring this passion and excitement to all the lessons I teach. I believe that we are all artists to the extent that we are born with the ability to express ourselves. I help my students find the best way to do that.
I now hold a BFA in Painting and Art Education with a double minor in Art History and Creative Writing. I am licensed to teach Visual Art in Massachusetts for grades pre-k to 12 and have been sharing a love of art and learning with students for over fifteen years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a BFA in Painting, which required extensive and vigorous study in drawing. I have taught classes and workshops in this subject. I taught a private art student an in-depth observational drawing course to prepare for college level admittance, of which he was accepted.
I have taught myself how to needle felt initially as a hobby. But I found such success that I sold many of my creations and was invited to teach workshops locally. I also presented an at-capacity workshop to other art teachers at the Massachusetts Art Education Conference.
I hold a degree in painting, which included coursework across various styles and subjects. I am skilled in still life, portraiture, landscape, etc. Most recently a painting I completed is being published as an illustration in a new book coming out Summer of 2015.
I hold a minor in Creative Writing and have excellent grammatical skill.
