About Gretchen

I hold a B.S. in Management and B.A. in Music from Keene State College and a M.S. in Human Resources from Emmanuel College. While at Keene State College I was a management tutor and I am currently a H.R. Generalist. I have also had many other jobs with the public such as sales and in restaurant work. I enjoy tutoring general management studies, marketing, and Human Resources. For Music I am a classically trained soprano (singing for 16 years). I have spent a lot of time in choirs, voice lessons, and have performed many recitals. I also enjoy ear training, music theory, and music history. I am a professional singer in a church choir and a soloist as well as a wedding/funeral singer. I enjoy tutoring both management and music. I can accommodate many learning styles and interest areas. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

I am a reenactor where I have been educating for 8 years specializing in the American Revolution and World War II. I have also taken coursework in the American Revolution in college.

Bible Studies

I am a confirmed Roman Catholic and studied the Bible through my program to get confirmed. I also went through Pre Cana courses when I was preparing to get married. I also took a college level course entitled World of the Old Testament.

Career Development

I have a B.S. in Management and a M.S. in Human Resources. I have experience as an academic admissions recruiter at Hallmark Institute of Photography. In my field of Human Resources I also spend 25% of my time recruiting, evaluating resumes, posting jobs, holding interview, and upholding compliance through recruitment.

Ear Training

I have taken aural skills I-IV in college, I have been singing and sight reading for over 16 years, and I keep up on my sight reading every week. I can sight read standard and Gregorian Chant notation.

General Music

I have a B.A. in music where the following course work was a part of the program. Music Cultures of the World, Western Music History I-II, 20th Century Music, Counterpoint, Music Theory and Aural Skills I-IV, Analytical Techniques, Conducting, Music Workshop, Musical Improvisation, Pedagogy, Vocal Diction, Vocal Literature, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Voice Lessons, Piano Lessons and Piano Proficiency Exam.

Music History

I have a B.A. in music where the following course work was a part of the program. Music Cultures of the World, Western Music History I-II, 20th Century Music, and Counterpoint. I have studied other areas of music as well such as music theory, aural skills, pedagogy, etc. I focus on Gregorian Chant, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Period.

Music Theory

I have taken music theory and aural skills I - IV and use theory and aural skills weekly.

Sight Singing

I have taken theory and aural skills I - IV in my undergraduate studies. I currently use music theory and aural skills weekly.

Voice (Music)

I am a classically trained soprano. I have been singing for 16 years and have been taking voice lessons for 12 years specializing in opera, religious, and art songs. I also have a background in Broadway and popular styles. In college I spent time studying vocal pedagogy, diction, and literature as well.
