I am an elementary school teacher with over twenty years classroom experience. I received my degree in Early Childhood Education (K-3) from Lesley. Each year I stress the importance of being respectful and responsible learners. This philosophy has made my students want to achieve their full potential as learners and citizens of the world.
In our classroom we devote most of our day implementing Common Core standards in conventional ways. I implement the curriculum so that all students are successful. As a seasoned educator, I still find new ways to help students find success with the use of models and hands-on manipulative. After many years of working with children, I still continue to enjoy the profession.
I have always stressed the importance of reading! Successful reading requires a combination of semantics, syntax and phonetics. These three elements, as well as concepts of comprehension are always incorporated into my teaching.
I have implemented several Phonics programs. building on a students current skills helps the student be successful.
Knowing students strengths first helps me learn what direction the student needs to follow. I have also implemented several spelling programs in my many years of experience.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently teach math and ELA programs that are aligned with Common Core. The Journeys ELA program that I have taught for the past two years aligns with Common Core in writing, phonics, spelling and comprehension.i have implemented the enVision math program in my classroom for three years. It is also Common Core aligned.
I have a degree in Early Childhood Education (K-3). I am a certified to teach grades K-3 in Massachusetts, and I have over twenty years experience in the classroom teaching first and second grade. My years of experience both in the classroom and in a k-5 school have given me wonderful opportunities working and interacting with young children. As a teacher in a public school I have access to many resources for children at this age level.
My BS from Lesley and certification in grades kindergarten through three qualify me to teach phonics. I hold a certification from the adept of Education for teaching grades k-3.
