With my nine years of classroom experience, I look forward to working one-on-one to focus on your needs as my individual student. Similar to my after-school help sessions, my tutoring sessions are focused on providing many possible ways to explain and understand the concepts that are new and difficult in the subject. I bring a wealth of classroom materials for my students and knowledge from recent research about which concepts are most challenging and a variety of ways to interest and explain the concepts. I have worked individually with high school freshmen through college undergraduates. I will provide detailed explanations as well as ask you to provide me with detailed questions about the material that you are struggling with. We will develop a plan of attack for you to achieve the success you desire. Together we will work on content and study strategies that will enhance your performance in all of your academic classes. I have a bachelor's degree from Brown University in Geology-Physics and a Masters of Education in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have tutored students in Belmont, Newton and taught in Cambridge and Waltham as well. I especially enjoy helping students who do not think they excel in math and science as I love giving them confidence and skills to improve their abilities at problem-solving. I am certified to teach Physics in grades 8-12 and have taught all levels. I am also interested in tutoring math.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Having taken ballet since the age of 5, I learned and maintain through adult ballet classes familiarity with the repertoire, body placement and technique of classical ballet, including arm placement, correct alignment and body positions. I have augmented my dance education through modern dance technique and performance in college and beyond.
I studied flute in public school and all throughout college, private instruction and playing in chamber groups, flute choirs, orchestras and bands. In HS I taught flute to beginning students. Currently, my daughter studies flute and I help her. Most recently, I played in our town parent teacher band.
