About Ryan Nicole

My interest in tutoring is inspired by my love of learning and education. I enjoy working with students, whether they are struggling in a particular subject or they just want to enhance their knowledge and skills. Success in academics is very important at all levels and takes hard work, commitment, and time.

I have two Bachelors degrees in Mathematics and Business Management and a Masters degree in Teaching. I work at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with outreach programs for K-12 students, working with faculty to plan academic enrichment programs. Previously I worked at Brown University with their pre-college program as well.

I enjoy tutoring mathematics for students to gain a better understanding of concepts, remembering equations that apply, and doing well on exams. Sometimes teachers move at a fast rate in the classroom or concepts are taught in one way, so it is helpful for students to spend extra time with a tutor to fully understand why they are using certain formulas and what exactly they are doing. Mathematics can be overwhelming at times, which I understand and hope to alleviate some of that through patience and explanations.

I tutor elementary and middle school mathematics (algebra, probability and statistics, calculus, etc). My mathematics courses in college have included algebra, geometry, statistics, history of mathematics, linear algebra, multivariate calculus, and through calculus four. Using my degrees and experience, I have enjoyed working with students to help improve their understanding and grades.

I have a passion for education and hope to have an opportunity to assist your student in their success. I encourage feedback from my students so that I know what works best for them and how they learn best. I am very flexible with scheduling and am happy to answer any questions that you have!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I currently work at Brown University with both undergraduate students and high school students in the Pre-College Program. I have also worked at Bridgewater State University and Bridgewater State University with undergraduate student leaders inside and outside of the classroom. I completed my masters degree in Teaching and have taught a freshman leadership course and a mentoring program. In college, I also tutored in the Tutoring Lab for mathematics.

Elementary Math

Very briefly about my background, I have a bachelors degree in mathematics and a masters degree in educations. Currently, I work with 3rd-8th grade STEM programming. Previously I worked with high school programs at Brown University.
