Bridgewater State University (History and English)
Hello! I am Liz and I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Bridgewater State University. I just turned 22 and now I am saving up so I can go to graduate school! I have helped my peers in many classes ranging from assisting and editing papers, to helping understand broad topics in history. I love reading and learning, and I want to share that passion with those around me and also those who might need a little extra help!
I have studied primarily European history focusing mainly on England, France, Germany, and Russia. However I have also studied American History focusing form pre-revolution up until the Cold War. Reconstruction and the Civil War, and the World Wars are my specialties. My English focus is on English Literature, Russian Literature and American Literature. However I have also focused studies on theory, and have presented my academic writing and research at national and regional conferences. (PCA/ACA, and Bridgewater State University Research Symposium). I hope that I can encourage learning and make things a little more clear for my future students.
I have presented my writing at national and region conferences. I have studied English literature and rhetoric for 4 years at college and I also am an avid readier.
My passion from history started at a young age and continues to grow to this day. I have studied European history in particular with some American history sprinkled in while earning my History degree at Bridgewater State University. I plan on continuing to peruse history while in graduate school.
I am passionate and easy to talk to, and can not wait to get started tutoring! If you have any questions on my qualifications or have any other questions for me in general please do not hesitate to ask. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have spent the last four years of my academic career studying English, both the literature and the language. I have earned a degree in English and have written papers for national and regional conferences. I have also taken several AP English courses back when I was in High School.
European History was my primary area of study in college. I earned my history degree, and have spent the last four years researching and reading about European History. I have also taken an AP European History course while in high school.
I earned my English degree while in undergraduate school and have studied literature for the majority of the program. I have taken courses focusing on different types of literature, ranging from American to British, to sub genres of Gothic, Romantic, Modernist, and a variety of others. I also am familiar with different theories that surround the subject, including but limited to race theory, queer theory, feminist theory, and Marxist theory. I also have helped my peers understand literature on a surface level as well.
I struggled with reading as a younger child but as I grew I learned proper reading techniques and have found ways to make reading easier for new readers. As an English and History major in college I read a lot, picking up different strategies for reading different types of books. My comprehension has improved immensely, I am a very competent reader and I have skills to help others improve their reading level.
