I am a registered dietitian with my Phd in Nutritional Sciences that included a focus on protein metabolism and exercise. My graduate and post graduate experience includes assisting and teaching food service (cooking) courses, medical nutrition therapy and sport nutrition courses for undergraduate students.
My research included diet (primarily protein) alterations and the impact on protein turnover, metabolism, muscle, bone and mental health in healthy exercising individuals. During my graduate work I also worked as a per diem dietitian in a hospital and counseled athletes on sport specific nutrition principles for optimal health and performance. The latter allowed me to become a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), a popular specialty certification for registered dietitians interested in working with athletes.
I have been working at the university level for almost 7 years. I am experienced and available to tutor for any nutrition (general, life-cycle, weight loss, sport nutrition etc.) or metabolism (biochemistry) courses. I am also reliable and knowledgeable regarding career counseling for individuals interested in pursuing nutrition/sport nutrition related degrees or internships and, based on my experience, may be able to provide appropriate connections for those interested in/qualified for gaining experience in this specialized field.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my undergraduate degree in Dietetics. I was a Teachers Assistant in a Food Service Management course for 2 years that included extensive cooking skills. I also provided cooking lessons for athletes who were in need of education on this topic in order to cook for themselves and optimally fuel for performance.
I have my bachelor's in Dietetics and my PhD in Nutritional Sciences. I have taught/provided guest lectures at the collegiate level since 2010. I have been a registered dietitian, providing counseling and medical nutrition therapy to clients, subjects, patients and athletes for approximately seven years (since 2008).
I went through a 200 hour yoga teacher training from September-May 2014. Training focused on Ashtanga yoga as taught by Beryl Bender Birch (through the Hard & Soft Yoga Institute). Training was completed through Heartsong Yoga in East Long Meadow, MA.
