Hello. My name is Andrew and I have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering. I have many interests, but what I enjoy most is mathematical modeling (mechanistic and statistical), optimization problems, algorithm development, and computer coding. I love helping students learn and watching them achieve their academic goals.

Hello. My name is Andrew and I have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering. I have many interests, but what I enjoy most is mathematical modeling (mechanistic and statistical), optimization problems, algorithm development, and computer coding. I love helping students learn and watching them achieve their academic goals.

I am a puzzler. I love a good challenge. I am not a gifted test-taker, so I have taught myself and others how to prepare thoroughly and strategically in order to do exceptionally well on tests and assessments. I want my students to understand the fundamental principles of the material they are studying rather than learning how to solve specific problems. An understanding of the fundamentals allows one to look deeper into a subject and gives them the skill set to approach and solve more complex problems.

My tutoring approach is to understand what the student knows, what they are struggling with, and then tailor my instruction so they can achieve their learning goals. I am careful and thorough. We will solve problems similar to what is on the homework and look at where one may find these types of problems in real-world situations.

I have six years of combined experience tutoring college students in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, and mentoring chemical engineering masters students. I have worked with international students and have traveled and presented throughout Europe, Eastern Europe, and Japan. I appreciate different cultures and languages and can use a culturally-responsive approach for multi-cultural and multi-lingual students.

I look forward to supporting you on your academic journey. Please feel free to contact me with questions or to schedule a lesson.
