As a tutor in Math with over a decade of experience, and being the oldest brother of four younger siblings of my own, I have had extensive experience with relating to kids and young adults of all ages and abilities. Although I am not a fully certified teacher in Massachusetts, I have passed the MTEL Math and literacy exams for teaching 9-12th grade math subject content.
Whether a student is trying to avoid dropping down a level, or if a student aspires to move up a level next year, students have been able to achieve that while working with me. Regardless of the hole that students may dig themselves into, virtually every student I have ever worked with has increased their grade to at least a B. I also have many current references that are willing to share their experiences.
I have been able to achieve success by setting a pace that is appropriate for each individual student. During our sessions and the attentiveness of the student, I also believe in engaging in a certain amount of conversation with the student that can make our sessions feel more like getting help from a friend rather than just learning math.
Regardless of a student's current situation, there is a basic plan that I always follow to ensure success.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Most students can achieve results in one or two sessions a week for 1-2 hours each week which can be usually be reduced as progress is made. I look forward to working with you! Jason has been tutoring my 9th grade son in Algebra II. Within a short time, he helped my son go from feeling overwhelmed to confident in a difficult class. Jason has a warm, supportive manner, yet he also gets right down to business - evaluating my son's strengths and gaps, clearly explaining concepts, and patiently helping him work through problems.
My son has improved his grades and is finding the challenge of math more exciting. I attribute this positive change directly to Jason's care and skillful teaching.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
