I work hard to prepare lessons for my students and take the mentoring role of a tutor very seriously, but I also love to bring energy and fun into each meeting. Learning should never feel like a chore. I tutor in confidence as much as I do in any subject and hope to make students feel as though their ideas are valuable and valid.
I like to give students ideas they can follow up on after each meeting--rather than homework--for us to discuss the next time we meet. This allows students the freedom to pursue their own interests and the space to guide their own education. I make myself available for any questions or thoughts students might have after the lesson.
My own undergraduate background is in classical languages (Latin), literature and history. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude in three years in 2015. I completed my masters this past August in anthropology at the University of Oxford and am excited to be in the process of applying for PhD programs in History. My hobbies include writing fiction, doing yoga, hiking, going to the beach, and cooking with friends

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
