I have worked with students in my community for over twenty years. I think that students want to be a part of the learning process and not to be just the passenger on the train. I have a good sense of humor and think that all things interconnect and that goes for school as well. I am excited about working with students because I hope that I can make this world a better place as they go through this great adventure. Language is a way to connect to each other through books and dialogue. We cannot understand ourselves if we do not recognize that we are not alone, but are part of a global network.
I think that it is important to assess what the student knows in the subject matter and what the learner is interested in doing. People learn in different ways. One child may like to draw or hum tunes. Webbing is a good way to translate ideas into a great paper. I like the funnel approach to writing. You start with a general statement and narrow it down to the point you want to show. You have three supports and then a conclusion. I have a Master of Arts in English from Fitchburg State University. I have a preliminary educator's license for English in grades 5-8, which was granted in 2006. I am a patient, positive, and creative person with a good sense of humor.
