University of Massachusetts Amherst (Comm Disorders)
Hello! Thank you for your interest in working with me. My name is Nicole and I am in my last semester at UMass. In May, I will be a graduate from the Communication Disorders program and will be a licensed Speech Language Pathology assistant in the state of MA. I have obtained a great deal of knowledge and skill throughout my education in areas such as study skills, language-learning strategies, writing, phonics, and much more. I feel comfortable tutoring for any elementary or middle school subjects. I have taken and scored well on standardized tests from the MCAS to the GREs. I understand the frustration children can face when they are not performing as well as they could be in school and would love to ease that anxiety. I would like to help facilitate learning, continuous improvement, and increased confidence in the individuals I work with. Let's get started!
English has always been a strong suit of mine. I have received A's on 95% of the papers I have written in my educational career. I am familiar with MLA and APA format and can assist in improving editing strategies, grammar, and reading skills. I would also be able to help increase vocabulary.
My career focus is working with children. I will relate well and make them feel comfortable while attempting to improve their understanding and performance as well as build their confidence and interest in school.
I have taken two linguistics courses, both using the IPA alphabet to truly understand the different sounds of our language.
I have been an administrative assistant where I created documents in Word and Excel. I have created multiple projects using PowerPoint.
I played soccer for 5 years, and basketball and softball for 8 years. Living away from home has allowed me to master my cooking skills especially italian food. I practice yoga independently and would love to share my practice and routines.
If we sound like a good match or if you have any additional questions, please get in touch with me! I would love to speak with you and schedule a lesson. All the best- Nicole Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
