Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I have taken several classes in this subject area during my undergraduate career. Although I majored in Sociology, the two fields are very closely related and many of my courses contained Anthropological viewpoints that supplemented and reinforced Sociological concepts. I am very familiar with terminology and theories in the field of Anthropology.

Criminal Justice

As a Sociology major, I took several courses that related both directly and indirectly to the study of Criminal Justice. I took a class called Gender and Crime, which investigated the way that various gender identities intersect with the Justice System. I am a Massachusetts certified Counselor Advocate.
