About Liana

Hello learners! My name is Liana and I am an experienced writing tutor. I graduated from college with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and spent one year tutoring fellow students in their writing, research, and even presentation skills. I love getting a sense of who you are, what your style is, and what interests you about your writing or research topic. From there, I help you communicate your ideas effectively and eloquently through detailed and thorough suggestions (I don't put words in your mouth!). I can help you rework sentences, organize papers, edit for clarity, or just proofread (a second set of eyes is always helpful!). I have experience helping students gather research in humanities topics. I also have experience with helping students develop effective PowerPoint presentations and public speaking/oral presentation skills. If this tutoring style sounds like a good fit with your learning style, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Another area of education that I am passionate about is college admissions. I worked as an intern in a college admissions office where I read applications and made preliminary admission and scholarship decisions. Basically, I can give you the inside scoop on what colleges are looking for in an essay and how you can stand out in yours! I also conducted many interviews with prospective students and can offer you advice, answer questions, tips, and conduct mock interviews.

I look forward to meeting and working with you!

I have a year of experience working as a writing tutor for college students. Personally, I scored high on verbal, reading, and writing sections of the ACT, SAT, and GRE (92-98 percentiles).

I worked as Senior Admissions Intern in a college admissions office where I read applications, made admission decisions, recommended scholarships, and interviewed prospective students.

I worked at Ramapo for Children, an organization that serves children with social and emotional disorders such as autism. I worked as a counselor in a traditional summer camp setting and worked with children ages 10-18 with various challenges, such as autism, to inspire their own success.

Now that you know my qualifications, you should also know that I am a friendly, open-minded, nonjudgemental person who sincerely enjoys meeting new people and helping others achieve success. Please reach out, I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
