I am a professional ESL teacher with 4 years experience teaching students of all ages, levels, and nationalities. I also majored in Japanese language, literature, and culture at the University of Maryland, graduating in 2010. I have also been trained to prepare English learners for both the IELTS and TOEFL English proficiency tests.
Aside for teaching languages, my two greatest passions are literature and history. I am very fluent in world history, especially East Asia and Europe, as well as American social and political history. I am also an avid reader of classical literature and routinely incorporate advanced reading analysis into my ESL lessons.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
