Hamilton College (Chinese, World Poli.)
Thank you for visiting my WyzAnt profile page!
Since 2006, I have taught Chinese language in local after school programs and one-on-one tutoring sessions. After taking courses at Beijing Language and Culture University in the summer of 2007 and graduating from high school in 2008, I continued my studies at Hamilton College, concentrating in Chinese language and World Politics. Before graduating from Hamilton in 2012, I completed a semester of immersive Chinese courses at Minzu University in Beijing during the fall of 2010.
As a non-native speaker, I have been able to share my language learning experience with students and guide them to overcome difficulties with tone/pronunciation, character recognition, writing, etc. By drawing comparisons between English and Chinese, students can develop a more technical understanding and sophisticated grasp of the language.
For nearly two years, I worked in Wuhan, China as a college counselor for Chinese high school students applying to American colleges and universities. With my experience in guiding students through the college application process, I am also available to tutor students in compositions and essay writing in English. If you would like to explore tutoring opportunities in Chinese language or English writing, please feel free to get in touch!
Thank you for your time and consideration!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I recently graduated from Hamilton College with a degree in Chinese language and International Relations. My theses (one written in Chinese and one in English) focused on environmental issues as well as environmental NGOs in China.
As a senior, I was awarded the college's Prize for Excellence in Advanced Chinese Language and Literature.
During the Fall of 2010, I studied abroad in Beijing, China at Minzu University. Of over 60 students in the study abroad program, I was the only student to be placed in the highest level of classes offered.
As a student at Hamilton College, I served as the co-chair of a Chinese language program offered to local elementary and middle school students who were adopted from China.
I would be happy to provide any additional information if necessary. Thank you.
