I am a Sped Paraprofessional in an elementary school who loves working with students and seeing that spark in the students eyes when they finally understand/grasp a concept. I have 6 years working in the education field, from working in a daycare setting, being a one-on-one nanny and the public school setting. Throughout my college years, I also spent many hours observing different techniques to use with each individual I work with.
I enjoy getting to know my students strengths and skill levels to help target what areas need developing. I like to try to make learning as fun as possible and will provided some learning games that will help the students start to understand a concept while having fun. My approach to teaching is to explain the concept, do the concept together and then when the student is ready to let them try on their own while still there to help if needed. My belief is that all students can be intrigued in learning and be the best learners they can be.
I have always loved math, having a problem in front of me and needing to figure it out. Math to me is like a puzzle, I love to solve it. During my undergraduate I concentrated in math education learning new techniques that will be taught in the schools and different ways of solving the problems.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently working in an elementary school and work with students in grades first through fifth. I graduated from college with an education degree and have attended courses that relate to all the different subjects. I also feel as though with my experience in the elementary school I know how to create fun lessons and or games that pertain to each subject.
I taught preschoolers how to write while I was working in a daycare. I thought of different creative ways to engage a child into handwriting. While nannying a 4 year old, I was able to have her writing all the letters of the alphabet and her full name during one summer. I also currently work in an elementary school and have access to materials that will help a student succeed in this subject. With all of my experience working with students on handwriting skills I feel comfortable enough to help with printing and cursive handwriting.
