About Ashley

Hi, I'm Ashley! I am a second grade teacher in Massachusetts. I love teaching and find my passion is working with struggling students. I love helping my students feel more confident and successful in their learning.

I am currently pursuing my CAGs as a reading specialist through Fitchburg State University. Reading is my specialty, but I love math as well. I am willing to tutor for homework help, developing skills, teaching new skills, and test prep for MCAS or PARCC.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have been en elementary teacher for the past three years and was previously a kindergarten title I tutor for a year. I have taught second grade for two years and first grade for one year. I have my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in literacy from Lesley University and am currently attending Fitchburg State to receive my CAGs as a reading specialist. Throughout my years teaching, I have attended professional development opportunities that focus on strategies to use with students who have ADD/ADHD. I also have first hand experience teaching children with ADD/ADHD.

Common Core

I have been en elementary teacher for the past three years and was previously a kindergarten title I tutor for a year. During my courses, I have designed many lessons aligned to the common core. In my school system, we have worked as grade level teams to align our curriculum to the common core.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been en elementary teacher for the past three years and was previously a kindergarten title I tutor for a year. I have taught second grade for two years and first grade for one year. I have my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in literacy from Lesley University and am currently attending Fitchburg State to receive my CAGs as a reading specialist.

Phonics

I have been an elementary teacher for the past three years and was previously a kindergarten Title I tutor for a year. As a kindergarten Title I tutor, I focused on teaching students phonics and phonemic awareness as well as teaching them how to read. I have taught second grade for two years and first grade for one year. Phonics is also a major part of the curriculum in each grade I have taught. I find that creating games to practice phonics skills makes learning enjoyable and helps students remember their letter names and sounds. I have my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in literacy from Lesley University and am currently attending Fitchburg State to receive my CAGs as a reading specialist.
