Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have been working as a tutor at some of the highest profile schools in the Boston area since 1992 and have a wealth of experience dealing with all kinds of students in a vast array of subjects. Due to this, I teach an integrated approach to learning, which can help students in almost any set of circumstances.

Algebra 2

My experience teaching students at schools all over the Boston area has given me tremendous insight in how to quickly and effectively guide students.

Soccer

I hold the NSCAA national youth diploma coaching badge, the NFHS soccer coaching credentials, the USSF "D" course, and have completed the equivalent to the KNVB CT-1 course. I have been coaching soccer since the fall of 1993, including 9 years as the head coach of the varsity girls soccer program at Somerville high school, and 16 years of coaching at Boston Soccer Academy/Boston Lightning summer camps.

Social Studies

I was granted New York state certification in teaching secondary schools social studies in 1992 - that certification has since lapsed. My classroom teaching experience included teaching psychology, US history, and civics. I have since that time worked with students in these areas and have also tutored ancient history, medieval history, and modern European history.
