In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

For over 15 years of teaching experience, I had students who came in with some beginner level in InDesign and wanted to take those skills to the next level. I also teach more advanced students who are ready to get on the next level and want to enrich their portfolios. Or if it's just a first step for you to become a Graphic/ Web Designer, I am good at making students feel comfortable and confident.
All levels, I teach basic tools, page layout, brochure layout, business cards, and print/web standards. For more advanced students - multipage documents, book design and layout, and web design.
I grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia where I was classically trained as an artist at a very early age. Petersburg has been at the epicenter of art and culture for centuries, known for esteemed performing and visual artists, historic museums and its world renowned architecture. I spent many hours backstage at the Kirov Ballet painting the ballerinas as they did their routines. I also had the privilege to study at celebrated art institutions like the Hermitage and the Muchin Art Academy. My BFA is in traditional Drawing and Painting. My grandfather was a masterful landscape painter, I worked in a range of medium but strongly favor water colors and drawing.
I am a student of the arts who thrives on contributing to the academia environment... I received my MFA in graphic design from Boston University. I dedicated the last fifteen years to teaching graphic and multimedia, drawing and painting courses both at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Northern Essex College. I regularly attend conferences and seminars to stay sharp with emerging web and design technologies. I am also very active in the community and regularly donate my works and time to Hadassah and other charitable organizations.
The Boston Globe wrote a story on a life size ice sculpture depicting a Russian Troika created based on my insightful drawings. The ice sculpture was a fairytale brought to life, which featured a church with onion domes along with Father Frost and an Ice Princess riding a sled pulled by horses. The display was unveiled at the 'Boston First Night' Celebration in 2002.
I have been teaching students how to use Dreamweaver in various training classes and seminars since version 3. I teach it in the class format and also have been teaching privately as well. I usually start with the beginner level and at the end of the semester students are able to build and manage web sites, change and replace content and graphics. In the beginning I go over basic html. Many school suggest that students take html as a prerequisite, but not everyone does that. For instance in the beginning I go over:
Using a proper doctype
The four essential elements: html, head, title, and body
Paragraphs and breaks
The six levels of headings
Hyperlinks and email links
Ordered and unordered lists
Images (with alt text and width and height attributes) in the page
Basic, unadorned tables
And then we go over more complex tasks during the semester.
