Texas A&M Commerce (Graduate Coursework)
I have 25 years teaching experience in several subjects and on several levels. My knowledge and teaching skills have taken me from public schools to private schools and from grade 7 to college freshmen. I have taught in Texas, Alaska, and Florida and in big cities and rural bush schools. My favorite part of teaching is the connection with individual students and their needs, so tutoring is a great fit for me - and for the student.
My dedication to the success of each student is paramount, and I have been successful with students of all types, ages, genders, and abilities. I will do my best to address each person's needs and outcome goals. Experience is great, and I have had extensive, but the success of each individual student is my goal. I feel I am a perfect match for one on one educational experiences.
My first degree in in English, because my childhood bedtime stories were Shakespeare!! I have been successful motivating students to read, understand, and learn to enjoy all aspects of ELA studies through creative and interesting lessons.
American history is my second major in college, and through my lessons students have performed community wide programs, made colonial furniture (a lesson well learned on my part!), and done many other hands on projects to further understanding of our country's incredible history. I have testimonials from several former students!
I hope you will consider all my qualifications, but also my dedication to student success. I may have years of experience and education, but my goal is to help students be successful one at a time. Please consider scheduling lessons with me, and I will dedicate my talents to you. I have 25 years teaching experience in several subjects and on several levels. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing golf since I was 7 years old. My instructor, Jim Flick, started the Flick/Nicklaus golf schools and wrote for Golf Digest until his death a few years ago . I was a student of his for 6 years and have continued playing for most of my life. Since I am a certified teacher I can apply teaching techniques to basic golf lessons.
I have assisted coaching and practice with several softball teams. My youngest daughter went to college on a softball scholarship for which I spent many hours practicing with her individually and with her team to secure.
In the 23 years I taught school I assisted many students and parents in preparing study areas and developing study skills. I tutored before and after school hours and helped to organize many students. I helped to prepare time charts and skill charts for study accounting. In addition, students would converse with me about their study station at home, and we would brainstorm better conditions and supply organization.
