In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a devoted Christian who has taught Sunday School. I have done numerous Bible studies on my own as well as with small groups. I believe that memorization and word study makes Bible study easier.
I have taught handwriting throughout my whole teaching career. I take great care in teaching K-2nd graders to print their letters properly and clearly. I teach cursive writing in a very fun and precise manner.
I have taught phonics as part of the reading program for most of my 17 years of teaching and tutoring. I am very specific with teaching letter sounds and blends to read and spell words. I use various methods to teach phonics based on the children I am working with. I believe that each child needs a firm foundation in phonics to be successful readers.
I have taught Catechism classes, RCIA classes and Sunday school classes. I have a working knowledge of all world religions. I teach about all religions in an unbiased manner.
