Oklahoma State University (Graduate Coursework)
Hello, my name is Rebecca Jane H. I have a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma (OU) and completed one year of postgraduate studies in Chemistry at Oklahoma State University (OSU). I am confident that my educational background and experience working as a teaching assistant at Oklahoma State University will meet the expectations and qualification of your needs as a student.
As a graduate student at OSU, I worked on research projects in a team environment and developed skills utilizing MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel which I would be happy to help explain and teach to those who need this skill set. I also organized and instructed laboratory classes for undergraduate students. I was truly happiest when I was teaching at the graduate level. I made sure all my students felt welcomed in the classroom environment. I wanted them all to know that all questions were good questions. That inquiring and thinking outside of the box is a great way to learn and educate yourself. Chemistry may seem daunting, but I think will a little insight into the actual language of science we can overcome the feelings of being overwhelmed and help you become confident in your studies.
I would be excited to have more opportunities to teach once more. I felt that besides my passion for art conservation, teaching was something my heart and soul belonged to.
My major at the University of Oklahoma was General Chemistry. After graduation I took graduate level courses in polymers, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry. I found that this information was what we need to preserve our history in art and architecture. I am very passionate about knowledge in chemistry. Everything we deal with in our daily lives comes down to physics and chemistry. It is pertinent for our future generations to acknowledge and understand why this area of study is so important. Because of this passion, I did become a teaching assistant at the graduate level. I taught for a year in general chemistry one and two. I was always encouraged at the end of the semesters to hear that my students were more involved in science because I did make if more readily accessible to them. I want students to know and find hope in that chemistry is not that difficult; it is just a language barrier that one must overcome. With the right help, tutor and drive anyone can understand the language of chemistry.
I minored in art history at the University of Oklahoma. I fell in love with the concepts of how we as humans have left our mark on this world. How we expressed our beliefs, morals and life styles throughout the world. I have taken time out of every day to review, watch or read something about art history. This mostly has to do with the fact that I want to become an analytical art conservator. I have a true passion to preserve our tangible history of art.
The fact that you as a student are inquiring about a tutor to help you better understand a subject says so much about your perseverance in education. I can help you better understand how to find the answers you are looking for. So, not only will you leave knowing more about chemistry or art history, but that you can be independent and begin to realize you can find your own answers to your questions through the right type of guidance. I will also add that you as a student must put in your own time into your education. I can only show you so much and help you learn the methods of science, but you yourself are the one who must take these methods and put them into practice. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions please email me. Thank you for your consideration.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
