The University of South Alabama (Master's)
My name is James and I live in New Orleans. I moved here from Alabama after completing my graduate studies. I received my bachelors degree from the University of South Alabama with a concentration in Latin American studies. The courses were heavy Spanish literature. I have experience presenting in Spanish. I can also read and write in Spanish. Near the end of my undergraduate program I was selected to lead a group of students in my program. My responsibilities in this group were to help them develop their Spanish skills. During this time I also privately tutored high school school students in Spanish.
After my undergraduate program I immediately began my graduate program. I received my masters degree in Public administration with a concentration in healthcare. I moved to New Orleans after graduating for two reasons. The first reason was to try to begin a career in my field. The second was to play music. I am a part time music and play in local venues.
I am prepared to teach a variety of subjects. I can confidently say that I can assist in helping students with English, reading comprehension, writing, Spanish, and some music. I can also assist students in organization for test preparation.
I am bilingual and have the communication skills to teach Spanish speaking students.
I have spent several years overseas in Honduras. I spent a year in Honduras as a student in high school. My undergraduate courses were all in Spanish.
I write and read well.
I play the saxophone. I have played the saxophone for 16 years and have taken several years of band classes. I have also lead my own bands.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have completed a Masters degree in Public administration (dense legal reading). I am bilingual in Spanish. This helped me develop my reading and writing skills. I have tutored in the past.
