About Soumyadip

I am pursuing Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Throughout my academic career so far, I have taken many applied math and engineering math courses that have helped shape my understanding of Mathematics. I have worked as a Math Tutor for the Athletics Department at my university wherein I have tutored students taking various courses in Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus. I played a successful role in helping students maintain above average to high GPAs. I have also worked as a Research Assistant for one of my professors.

Mathematics has always been my passion. One of my leisure activities is to engage in solving problems in Number Theory. I have had a fair amount of experience tutoring high school students and college/university undergraduate students. One of the things I love about tutoring/teaching is that it pushes me to re-learn familiar concepts so that I am adept at explaining the concepts in ways that suit the students' learning abilities. Also, it gives a sense of satisfaction to see students achieve the grades they aim for, and what adds to that satisfaction is to see them develop an interest in areas in which their learning is slow. I like engaging students with the applications of the theoretical math that they learn. I believe in motivating students towards more practice as every practice is a learning process.

Mathematical Thinking requires students to be active learners, it requires students to engage their minds on the problems. So, I encourage you to contact me and give me an opportunity to help. You can contact me with any problems that you might encounter and I look forward to working with you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

My academic career so far involves several courses in math, applied math (including advanced engineering math) and statistics, that contain core and advanced concepts in calculus. I have also tutored students taking Calculus I, Calculus II and Pre-Calculus courses.

Differential Equations

My educational background includes Engineering Math and Advanced Engineering Math courses. The coursework included Ordinary Differential Equations in more than 2 degrees and Partial Differential Equations. Also, I have experience in tutoring students who have taken courses that involve differential equations. My tutoring methods involved one-on-one problem solving and doubt clearing sessions.
