About Rob

Hi! I'm a young college graduate passionate about science. I have bachelor degrees with honors in both Psychology and Comparative Literature, with a minor in Neuroscience. After graduation, I immediately returned to school to study premedical requirements: inorganic, organic, and biochemistry, as well as physics, genetics, and cell and molecular biology.

I love to tutor in biology and biochemistry and am actively employed as a scientific researcher. I always wanted to teach but never had the opportunity, and tutoring has provided my chance to share my love of science with others (as well as help them boost their grades and understanding!)

I'm also a gifted proofreader thanks to my years of studying literature--my honors thesis in Comparative Literature was a 40 page behemoth, so no essay is too daunting for me to handle! I am capable, willing, and excited to help with essay structure, argument, grammar, and style.

I'm not just educated in science; because I'm actively employed as a biomedical researcher, I'm educated in how to do science--how to prove something is true or false. This helps me find great ways to clarify, demonstrate, and explain complex scientific concepts, and this is the major value I provide as a tutor.

I spend all day thinking about science, and in particular about analogies and examples to improve my own understanding, and about ways to improve the understanding of my peers. These are the kinds of methods I use to expand science comprehension, so that memorizing is less important, and forgetting is less likely--which adds up to better test scores and more fun thinking about how the world works!

Please let me know if you need help with tutoring in science or writing. I love both and would love to help you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
