Bio

Hello! My name is Lyndsey and I'm an English and Journalism undergraduate student attending the University of New Orleans. My love for the English language started way back when I was a small child; I would always have a book in my hand. I was beyond excited for the occasional book fairs my school had and I eventually began writing my own stories and short skits in about third grade. My teacher at the time would allow me to gather a few classmates and perform the skits on Fridays. My goal is to use my passion for English and help children meet their goals. Though reading and writing can come as a difficulty for some, I believe it is the foundation and the key to unlock the treasures of the world. We use language for everything, so it's my mission to help students strengthen their reading comprehension, literature and reading skills.

While in high school, I attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts studying Creative Writing. That program helped sharpen my literary skills while helping me fine tune and polish my writing style. Last semester I was on my school's newspaper staff as a content creator. I currently do freelance journalism work and blogging from time to time. I also take a few hours out of the week to drill my nephew on his homophones, sentence structuring and creative writing. Though he's only four, I believe starting early makes a difference in how children view the material they will see later on. Familiarity builds confidence.

I fully understand that life happens and unforeseen situations arise, so I require at least a three hour notice for a session cancellation. I also offer make-up sessions as needed.

I am very flexible with the location of tutoring sessions, so I am open to travel to the students' home, meet at a nearby coffee shop or a local library. Comfort and convenience is important to me, so I want to give clients those options.

Feel free to email me with further inquiries and to schedule some lessons! Always remember, you can succeed and you can do this. I would love to assist and help students see English from a different, more appealing perspective. I look forward to hearing from you so we can get on track to reaching your academic goals!
