Bio

Knowledge is Power. Those three words are very powerful, because without knowledge there is no power. I feel that all students have power, therefore all students have knowledge. I have a passion within to cultivate the knowledge and bring out the power in students, not all students learn the same or at the same pace. I feel that all students have power, therefore all students have knowledge.
I have a passion within to cultivate the knowledge and bring out the power in students, not all students learn the same or at the same pace.
I've been in education for over 20 years, and in that time I've had students who get the concept the first time and students who need extra time,
No two students are the same so lessons need to be modified to accommodate students needs.

I am familiar with the adoption of the new Common Core State Standards that have been introduced in the state of Louisiana.

I specialize in Elementary Grades with Reading, Spelling, Grammar, Language, Writing, Phonics and Handwriting. My goal is to keep the student challenged and engaged throughout the tutoring session, and to provide periodic assessments and progress reports.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to gain the knowledge and power to be the best you can be.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been an elementary teacher for over 20 years, teaching grades 2nd-6th. I am certified to teach in Louisiana and have been employed throughout my career. I am currently employed as a third grade teacher at a charter school in an urban setting. I am familiar with the current Common Core State Standards that have been implemented in most school districts.
Handwriting,

Handwriting

I am currently a third grade teacher, one of the subjects that I teach is writing. I try to get my students to understand that writing is a process and must have a beginning, middle and end. Writing should flow and be easy to read, therefore you must use proper grammar and punctuation.
Phonics,

Phonics

Phonics is one of the first things a child learns, the putting together of letter to form words. I feel that phonic is important in the early years in the beginning of child's learning how to read. I use phonics with students who usually have a problem saying certain words, during Reading I may ask the student to sound out or blend the letters to try and figure out the word.
Vocabulary,

Vocabulary

Using correct vocabulary is a very important part of writing when teaching third graders. I feel that vocabulary is important in speaking and writing, and students need to be taught how the two go together to be successful in their writing.
