About David

Hello Students and Parents,

I am a former math teacher (4 years of experience in middle school and high school) and am now studying to be a missionary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Tutoring has been a passion of mine since I began teaching because I have seen over and over how students utilize and appreciate the one on one learning experience over the impersonal classroom experience. I have a love for the beauty mathematics and statistics, their patterns and their power to help us understand the world we live in. If you are looking for some help with anything from elementary mathematics up through AP Calculus or AP Statistics (and IB Math SL for some of you out there) I have taught it all in the classroom and tutored it all every day after school. I would be pleased to assist you and I thank you for your consideration.

I am also available to help in these other areas as well: History (BA degree in History), Education (MA degree in Education), and Volleyball (2006 Div I national champion at UCLA, Junior national team player, beach and indoor semi-professional). If you have any questions about Jesus or Christianity you are welcome to contact me as well. May God bless you in your endeavors.

David

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. ACT Math covers much of algebra 1 and algebra 2 with a little geometry in there as well. I would love to be of service if you are in need of help.

Algebra 1

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. I find that Algebra is the most important class for building a solid, confident foundation for future mathematics. If you are having trouble or want to challenge your abilities I would love to be of service to you.

Algebra 2

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. In my experience Algebra II is a roadblock to many aspiring college students because it becomes more complicated than the brain can handle without pen and paper. If you are in need of help, I can help you train your brain to logically break these complicated problems down into more manageable parts so success can quickly follow.

Calculus

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. Calculus begins to separate those who 'are good at math' from those who want to pursue careers involving mathematics. If you need assistance deciphering the derivatives and integrals of calculus I can surely help.

Elementary Math

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. Elementary mathematics is the foundation for algebra which is critical for success in High School and beyond. If you are looking for help building confidence in these early mathematics principles, my services are available.

Geometry

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. Geometry is the oddball of mathematics subjects with an entire vocabulary and set of skills of its own. If you are having trouble deciphering the concepts or just need more practice to retain all that information I am available to be of service to you.

Prealgebra

I have been a math teacher and after-school tutor for four years covering every subject from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, AP statistics and IB Math SL. Prealgebra is a very important class especially now that most states have End of Course exams for algebra 1. If you need some help with prealgebra concepts to better prepare you for what is coming next year, I can be of service to you.
