Oklahoma City University (BFA Acting)
Nice to meet you! I'm Audrey.
Whether you want to improve your American accent, your communication skills, or your English, I have a passion for teaching and am here to help. I have taught actors, engineers, doctors, students, beauticians, moms, models and more. With my degree in acting and extensive experience teaching the American accent and ESL, I specialize in speech clarity and conversation. I love to problem solve. To me, every student requires different analogies, exercises, and techniques to reach their goals. I take notice of what helps and what doesn't, as well as what interests you or what bores you, so that we have a dynamic and worthwhile lesson every time!
If you are a nonnative English speaker wanting to improve your conversation skills (including idioms!), reduce your accent, gain confidence while speaking English, or get better with grammar, reading, or writing, you are in the right place! Whatever your English need is, I will create a highly individualized learning course for you so that you can achieve your goals--and as quickly as possible. Send me a message; I would love to assist with whatever you need.
I am available for lessons in New Orleans. Let me spread my passion for the English language to you! Nice to meet you! I'm Audrey.

She has a sincere desire to teach her knowledge with others. Her potential is amazing, She make a sincere connection with the student, She can explain everything very clear and on top of that she's funny and motivational. She give that real individual attention to the student. I am inspired by her way of communication. She instill discipline, patience, critical thinking, and inspiration. No amount of money in the world can do that. I see much more progress in my language.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
At my university, I ran the tutoring center, in charge of 30+ tutors. Over half of our students there were studying English as a second language. At that time I was trained in tutoring ESL there and have now been practicing for the last seven years.
When I proofread for you, I don't just make it better. I track my changes and explain them so that you are able to learn. Then you will get better and better so that eventually you don't even need me! I have edited books, essays, work presentations, and artist statements.
I have a BFA in acting, where I was trained intensely in how to be comfortable in front of large and small groups of people, how to alter material for the physical size of an audience, how to bring one's individual personality to any text, and how to create original material that other people can relate to without hitting them over the head with it. The degree program also made me very good at memorization and impromptu delivery. I love passing these skills on to others, and it has worked! One of my online public speaking students just won a city-wide speech-making competition in NYC, and another went from almost getting fired to getting a huge promotion at work!
For the past seven years, I have been working extensively with non-native English speakers, helping them recognize speech patterns that are incongruent with the contemporary American accent, and teaching them how to create sentences that flow naturally according to the native speech patterns. You can see several of my students on TV and movies, and others in top businesses around the country. They are getting compliments left and right!
I spent four years getting my BFA in Acting from Oklahoma City University, studying Shakespeare, Chekhov, Greek, contemporary theatre, on-camera acting, auditioning, and directing. I have professionally acted in many plays and films. I spend most days coaching acting and the American accent to actors from other countries. You can see my clients on TV, movies, and in plays around the world.
