I recently graduated from Tulane University with a double degree in Neuroscience and Jewish Studies. I am looking to eventually go to Med School in the future but will be in New Orleans for the upcoming year (completing a 2 year Masters in Neuroscience). I was a teaching assistant last year and I am now the head TA at Tulane for the anatomy and physiology class. I am available now and am interested in helping students on the side. I know I wouldn't have been able to get through school without the help of some very good tutors that taught me organizational skills as well as study skills (in addition to material I needed help with). I spent 7 years tutoring back in my home state (Maryland) and definitely have the patience and positive outlook to work with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As Czech is a middle Eastern/Germanic language, I began learning Czech after already knowing much German. I lived in Prague for 6 months and while there took an intense Czech course. Not only did I receive an A in the course, but also I was able to have conversations and communicate with the locals.
I have taught Hebrew for Bar/Bat mitzvah students for about 7 years on and off. I was the head tutor back in my hometown Temple in addition to teaching some Hebrew at my camp. When I came to New Orleans, I taught Sunday school, which had a little bit of Hebrew teaching as well.
I took both semesters of Organic Chemistry 2 years ago and had a tutor myself. I received an average of a B+/A- which was only due to some careless mistakes on quizzes. I was able to learn how she helped me and take those tools to use when helping others. I really stress working through as many problems as possible with the student and having them provide not only their solution to the problem but why they think that is. In the past 2 years I have tutored some of my fellow classmates on and off as well. I also have spent time reviewing Organic Chemistry through my MCAT preparation over the past year and this has been my highest scoring section (10-12).
