Howard University (Human Performance)
I have nearly a decade of tutoring and teaching experience under my belt, and I have grown very confident in my ability to help students learn challenging concepts by explaining them in plain English.
As strange as it may sound, I have always enjoyed doing math. I began tutoring professionally as a way to save for college after about a year of helping my classmates with their homework assignments. In 2007 I enrolled in Howard university with a full academic scholarship thanks to the diligence of my high school teachers and a lot of hours of studying. At Howard I continued tutoring and landed an Internship at NASA. Helping others to understand tough STEM concepts turned out to be something that I excelled at, and also helped me to continuously grow as a scholar.
After I earned my Bachelors Degree in Human Performance with a minor in Mathematics I sought a career in education. I became certified in New Orleans, LA and taught High School Algebra and Geometry for two years before opting out of a career in the public school system. My passion lies in helping students to achieve their scholastic goals, and I have found that tutoring is a much better way for me to do that.
I encourage you to contact me if you are seeking a way to improve test scores quickly, or wish to gain a deeper understanding of Mathematics concepts. I look forward to studying with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
