My name is Jordan and I'm a passionate writer, musician, and teacher with a B.A. from Vassar College in Hispanic Studies and English. I've taught Spanish broth privately and in affiliation with Vassar's foreign language department. In addition, I've tutored ESL students and conducted introductory English courses for PhD candidates in an academic setting. Having lived in Argentina & Peru as a student and grant-funded ethnomusicology researcher, I see conversation/linguistic immersion as the gateway to comprehension, confidence, and success not only in the classroom but in one's cultural exploration of the world.
In addition to Spanish, I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels in a broad range of other subjects including English Literature & Language, Grammar, SAT/ACT Reading & Writing Prep, and Music Theory. Regardless of the subject, I seek to engage my student, which means challenging them to exceed their expectations. As a facilitator and supporter of intellectual growth, I design my lessons around the specific needs and interests of each student.
As one of my students, you'll have fun while accelerating your language skills.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied English Literature and Creative Writing at Vassar College, where I led a spoken word poetry group and compiled an original anthology of poetry entitled "You in the Cacophony." My love for the English language is an all-encompassing obsession, of sorts.
Subjects I've previously taught range from early British Literature to Grammar and Style to Modern Poetry.
Whether it's the SAT Reading section or Shakespeare, I'd love to help you excel and master the English language.
