Hi all,

My name is Stephanie, and if you need help with English or Theatre, then I'm your tutor!

I recently graduated from Adelphi University with an MFA in Playwriting. Before that, I earned my BA in English and Secondary Education from Marist College, where I concentrated on writing but also studied various forms of literature.

Over the last ten years, I have done some sort of teaching, from tutoring to managing my own college classrooms. I love working with students, whether it is helping them analyze and pick apart literature or improve their writing skills. I have experience with students from high school age and up.

Overall, my philosophy is that each student learns differently and at his or her own pace. I have developed a variety of learning tools to help students feel comfortable, whether they learn visually or through hands-on experience. I also encourage discussion since I feel English and Theatre work better when there is an active conversation involved.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Theater

I would teach and discuss how to write a play, while focusing on the elements of a play and how it relates to literature as a whole. I am able to teach how to analyze the beats and character developments of a play in addition to the more technical nuances of staging and theatrical elements (i.e. costumes, lighting, blocking, etc.). In addition, I have experience in directing and acting, which means I would be able to help students find the truth within roles and prepare for parts.
