My higher education began with my Bachelor's degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Next, I completed a Master of Public Health from California State University at San Marcos and graduated Summa Cum Laude. After working in public health, I took the MCAT and scored in the 80th percentile. I obtained my Medical Degree from the University of Queensland, graduating in the top quartile of my class. I excelled on my United States Medical Licensing Exam Step 1 and Step 2 board exams, scoring in the 80th percentile.
I enjoy learning and teaching, especially in the sciences and medicine. I developed my interest in teaching and tutoring upper-level Exercise Physiology as an undergraduate teaching assistant at the University of Colorado. I cultivated a more profound interest and improved teaching skills during medical school, where I tutored medical students for their Step 1 and Step 2 board exams. I have experience tutoring both 1-on-1 and in group settings, and I have more than three years of tutoring experience. Moreover, besides having the strong content knowledge required of a tutor, I have also developed excellent study strategies and plans that I am eager to share.
My rigorous academic background, passion for teaching, and interest in formulating individualized study plans make me a great tutor for various subjects. I believe in simplifying information before trying to delve too deep into topics. I often begin by ensuring students understand overarching themes and focus on first learning the big picture. I feel that this is the best way to facilitate the application of learned material. However, I do not believe there is a "one-size-fits-all" when it comes to learning and that not every teaching method works for an individual. I employ multiple teaching modalities until we have established a successful working relationship and find the best teaching method for the student. Ultimately, my objective is to help others meet and exceed their goals.
