mindset to help them succeed not only as students in a mathematics classroom but also
later as independent, self-sufficient adults. I relate to the motto that says I do not want to
be a sage on a stage, but instead a guide on the side. I believe all students are capable of
learning, but some may require a different approach than other students.
I have taught Algebra 1 for 28 years with a few years of Geometry and Advanced Math. I
have spent 23 years tutoring in subjects such as Basic Algebra, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1,
Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Advanced Math. I guide students through the process by asking questions. I do not believe in providing answers. The students need to learn to think and reason for themselves.
