I teach higher level mathematics in the world-renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) program, as well as many courses in the Advanced Placement (AP). My students in the IB program score, on average, 15% higher than the IB world average in math. Those I have tutored in ACT Math increase their Math scaled score by an average of 8 points. My approach is a student centered learning environment, with instruction, problem modeling by me, then problems worked by the student with my help.
My love of teaching comes from a love of learning. I am a life-long learner, and enjoy new challenges. Math and science are, arguably, the toughest yet most important of all the disciplines in school. The most rewarding careers, and those careers in most need of qualified workers, involve math and science. As a teacher and a tutor it is my honor to assist my students to high levels of success in their studies.
I hold myself to a very high standard and ask for ongoing feedback to make certain my students are successfully grasping the concepts. My goal is your success.
I do try to be flexible with my time. I have a three-hour cancellation policy, but offer make-up sessions. For convenience, I travel to the student. I often meet students at local libraries, coffee shops, at their home, or online; or elsewhere if it is more convenient for the student.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve great success in your studies.
