I am a certified teacher with a Math and Science degree from Clayton State University and I specialize in instructing both mathematics and science; all levels middle school through calculus including AP Statistics, and science - chemistry and physics including AP Physics. I also tutor for tremendous success on the ACT, PSAT, EOC and PARCC assessments. I focus on the fundamental concepts of mathematics. Once these concepts are grasped, solving problems becomes easy.

I teach higher level mathematics in the world-renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) program, as well as many courses in the Advanced Placement (AP). My students in the IB program score, on average, 15% higher than the IB world average in math. Those I have tutored in ACT Math increase their Math scaled score by an average of 8 points. My approach is a student centered learning environment, with instruction, problem modeling by me, then problems worked by the student with my help.

My love of teaching comes from a love of learning. I am a life-long learner, and enjoy new challenges. Math and science are, arguably, the toughest yet most important of all the disciplines in school. The most rewarding careers, and those careers in most need of qualified workers, involve math and science. As a teacher and a tutor it is my honor to assist my students to high levels of success in their studies.

I hold myself to a very high standard and ask for ongoing feedback to make certain my students are successfully grasping the concepts. My goal is your success.

I do try to be flexible with my time. I have a three-hour cancellation policy, but offer make-up sessions. For convenience, I travel to the student. I often meet students at local libraries, coffee shops, at their home, or online; or elsewhere if it is more convenient for the student.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve great success in your studies.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra 1 for several years and my students routinely score Mastery and Advanced on the Louisiana EOC PARCC assessments. I believe that once students understand the concepts behind algebra, the working of problems becomes much easier.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra 2 for the last five years, with my students achieving phenomenal results. My students really enjoy, and grasp, my discovery based learning approach and retain the information long-term. This is also excellent preparation for success on the Math portion of ACT testing.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have taught geometry for the past five years with my students experiencing tremendous success on end of year proficiency exams. My students enjoy my discovery based approach to learning and retain the information long-term.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have successfully taught all levels of Algebra over the past five years. Pre-Algebra is the foundation for all maths after, so a solid understanding of these concepts is imperative. My students achieve excellent results with End of Course and PARCC testing.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

Math is perhaps the most difficult portion of the ACT. This is due in large part due to the fact the math portion consists of 60 questions that must be answered in only 60 minutes. The key to ACT Math is to know exactly what math process is needed to solve the problem immediately upon reading the question. My students achieve, on average, and 8 scaled point score increase on the math portion compared to prior test attempts. I focus on retired questions that have appeared on past exams, explaining the keys to look for to determine the math process needed, I also explain how to use a graphing calculator to your advantage in this timed environment.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the study of the unit circle as well as right and non-right triangles. I have been teaching Trigonometry for the past five years and my students enjoy great success in understanding the concepts behind trigonometry, which makes solving problems infinitely easier. It has always been my most favorite subject to both teach and to learn.
