University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Journalism)
I have many experience in this field. I have tutored English for my university's tutor program. There, I help college students to prepare for English exams, proofread essays, and tutored in the required formats for research papers. I have tutored children as young as 10. There, I would tutor them in there reading skills, comprehension, and vocabulary. When dealing with younger kids, I make sure to make tutoring fun. Children respond better to fun than schoolwork, so, why not combine the two to make sure that they are prepared? Although I specialize in teaching students on writing essays, papers, books, and poetry, I have a great ability of finding out what the student needs, how to teach them, and making sure that they are fully prepared in the other areas I've mentioned.
My tutoring approach all depends on the student. First, I like to make the student feel comfortable by telling them about myself, discuss how excited I am to teach them, and tell them about when I studied in the field I am tutoring them. Second, I like to find out what the student plans to receive from the tutoring session and come to mutual goal. Students learn and pay attention to school work much more attentively when there is a goal set for them to achieve. Third, I find out how the student learns best and then base my tutoring sessions of off that information.
I love tutoring because it gives me a chance to help others with things that I am knowledgeable about. I am dedicated to making sure my students know the information and are ready for any test that may be concerning that specific material. It is my duty to encourage my students that they are capable of learning and doing the work.
I am able to teach any student having trouble within the following subjects: English, Grammar, Proofreading, Vocabulary, Writing, Reading. I am able to teach any student of any age. I am also able to prepare any student that is in need of preparing for the ACT English section. I am very aware of the questions the test may ask and the material the test will present to the student. I am dedicated to making a fun, learning environment so that learning is made so much easier for the students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I scored a 30 in English and a 28 on my Math section of the ACT.
