About Amber

My name is Amber, I'm 24 years old and I have a passion for criminal justice, sociology and music. I believe that learning should be fun and challenging. My main objective is to inspire my students to learn, regardless of the particular subject matter. Lessons should be tailored to encourage and challenge each student while incorporating exciting goals.

I have tutored individuals in criminal justice and sociology for three years. I currently work as an Investigations Manager for a Federal Court Settlement Program and currently manage 40+ criminal investigators who conduct work nationwide. I possess a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a double-major in sociology, along with a Louisiana Private Investigator's license. I believe individuals learn best when they are engaged, lifted up and enjoying the subject. I also believe it is important for people to understand the principles of the studied subject matter, along with how it relates to their own life.

My second passion is music - marching percussion in particular. I began learning the very basic percussion fundamentals during the 5th grade and continued to study music throughout college. I participated in our high school's marching band and played the bass drum, snare and tenors. I was the captain of that drumline for several consecutive years and returned to instruct the drumline for many years after graduating. I have played in many different ensembles, including marching bands, concert bands, and jazz bands, and have received many superior performance awards. As a marching percussion instructor, I worked with students of all skill levels, ranging from beginners to advanced, and have successfully worked with all types of learning styles to implement each into a group setting. Many of my former students have gone on to play in college bands. I also enjoy composing cadences and incorporating visuals into marching shows. I can work with students on an individual basis or instruct entire drumlines.

Criminal justice and sociology sessions will be offered online, while percussion sessions may be held in-person or online. I take pride in the success of each and every one of my students and look forward to helping you! Your goals are my goals, and they will be set and reached together.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
