I recently retired from the Louisiana public school system after teaching Mathematics and coaching multiple sports at the secondary level for 20 years. The majority of my career was spent teaching Geometry and Algebra 1. I did teach other mathematics courses such as financial math and business math but my main focus was the two courses mentioned above.
Two years ago, while finishing up my master's degree, my mother became ill with a rare form of cancer that took her life in 29 days after diagnosis. That news, coupled with the pressure of completing my graduate degree became too much to handle. It was then that I decided to retire after 20 years in the profession. I now work outside the field of education but miss instructing students who are motivated to improve in their coursework.
I love teaching students on a one on one basis and seeing that light in their eyes when they finally understand a difficult concept. I experienced great success as a teacher and developed professional relationships with many of my students that remain strong today.
I can be reached via this forum and am willing to work with students that are serious about improving their grades and developing a stronger understanding of the subject matter. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
