I am a Louisiana certified, highly qualified teacher for grades 1-5. I have 13 years of teaching experience. I have taught first and second grades but have tutored students in all grades. My passion is math and science but I realize reading is the basis of learning, therefore I put a lot of time into helping my students become fluent readers as well as great math students.
I moved to Denham Springs in December, leaving behind my students at my former school. I plan to return to the classroom in the fall but will spend the summer helping students who need a little extra help.
I have taught and tutored students for 13 years. I am familiar with the Louisiana state standards, including common core. I have attended over 100 hours of continuing education classes to be a more effective math teacher, math coach for my school, and learning new ways of instruction.
Similar to my math qualifications, I have taught for 13 years, many of those spent teaching reading as well as all other subjects. I have attended many hours of continuing education classes.

I believe that all students can benefit from my experience. I am challenging for those who are more advanced as well as those who need help. I understand that all students learn at a different pace and I can easily determine what skills are needing to be addressed. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
