Hello! I am a professional marine archaeologist here in Covington, Louisiana. My day job is with the Department of Interior protecting shipwrecks and other archaeological sites in the Gulf of Mexico. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering, anthropology, and oceanography. My first tutoring job was teaching supplementary calculus and physics courses while an undergraduate at Iowa State University. When I transferred to the University of Nebraska I was an Upward Bound lead tutor running after school sessions covering all subjects for disadvantaged high school students in the program.

While I was in my PhD program in Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, I was an instructor in the Anthropology and Geology departments. I created and taught courses in earth science, archaeology, anthropology, and advanced classes covering diverse topics such as frontier studies and the North American fur trade. I love to teach; however, my current position is primarily research and administration. I miss it and am looking forward to getting back to it as an independent evening tutor!

Engineering and oceanography are of course math-based sciences. Not only have I received instruction in basic through advanced mathematics, I use it regularly as a marine scientist. I can not only teach the subjects of math, but also it's application in other subjects as well as daily life.

I began my own French instruction in 8th grade, and took coursework from then through my undergraduate program (8 years study). I lived in Lausanne, Switzerland for a year; a city in which French is the primary language (and where I taught French speakers English!). As an American archaeologist, especially here in Louisiana, I often must use historical sources written in French. I find that I use my French skills nearly every day!

I am available to tutor any subject - math, science, and French, but also language arts and history, subjects all required in what I do and have previously taught. I can easily tailor my tutoring style to your and/or your child's needs. I look forward to hearing from you!
