I'm a retired Emergency Department nurse with 12 years of experience. I graduated in May of 2005. While in nursing school I was president of the Organization of Student Nurses. I was hired immediately out of school to work in and ED. I obtained my ACLS, Pals and TNCC within the first 4 months of starting my nursing career. I worked in several ED's through the years as well as travel nursing. In addition to being a staff nurse I was Charge Nurse of several ED's including a 30 bed mid level ED that dealt with Trauma, Cardiac, Neuro patients.
Before becoming a nurse I obtained a Bachelors of Science in English with a History minor. I studied mainly literature and even spent a summer abroad attending Kind's College in Chelsea, England studying Shakespeare. After graduation I pursued a job in advertising and marketing working in the television industry. I had the opportunity to write copy for my clients as well as coming up with visual advertising campaigns.

I have 12 years of nursing experience that ranges from common colds to severe trauma and cardiac problems. Having worked in several different ED's I gained valuable skills and understanding of critical patients.

I focused my studies on both prose and poetry from the 17th century forward. I was required to write constantly and was fortunate enough to study Shakespeare abroad in England. I eventually found myself years later using my written word as a means to speaking to groups of nursing students on various topics. Topics varied from nursing assessments to motivational talks with entire classes.

I have an easy manner and understand the challenges in taking a subject and breaking it down into a format that can be understood by anyone. Taking the mystery out of the science of nursing or the underlying meaning of T. S. Eliot and making it "everyday talk" to students.
