In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As part of this PD, I provide model lessons for teachers in which I work directly with students. Additionally, I write Core lesson plans that are implemented by teachers and evaluated by me. My area of expertise is Common Core grades 3-5.
I have current K- 8 teacher certification. I taught 6th grade for 11 years. I have taught summer school for 7+ years. I have privately tutored students grades 3-8 for 20+ years.
In addition to earning certification as a Reading Specialist, I've been trained in Project Read (phonics -based reading program commonly used with students with characteristics with dyslexia). Prior to becoming the principal at my school, I worked as the RTI Coordinator, working directly with students with reading deficits. Most of these students were provided a phonics-based intervention. These interventions were successful in teaching students to read.
