I’m Aeneid. I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems. After working for a short time in an office setting, I realized I truly enjoyed preparing and presenting seminars. Coming from a family of educators, I accepted this as my push to the profession of teaching. I then took classes at Southern University at New Orleans to obtain my alternative certification in elementary education. I completed my certification and began my formal classroom teaching. I taught in the local public school system for 6 years. I relocated and attended Southern University Law Center where I received my Juris Doctorate. However, my passion was still classroom teaching. I began teaching in the private sector. I taught math and science for middle school and high school.
I enjoy the “light bulb” moments when it begins to make sense to the students. I usually work one-to-one, but have also worked in small groups. I work on remediation, enrichment, and/or homework.
I have more than 25 years tutoring experience in math from elementary to high school advanced math.
I also have 25+ years as a reading tutor. I believe in mastering sight words and basic phonics skills to be able to quickly decode words. Comprehension can’t happen if student spends majority of time trying to decode.
My hope is to help students understand the material better, which will boost their confidence in their ability. I always welcome student and parent input to help make the subject matter more relatable. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson.
