Hi, my name is Mark. I love motivating students to get excited about learning. My goals as a tutor are to help my students build confidence and problem-solving skills in their classes and to become more self-sufficient as learners. I focus on improving conceptual understanding of course material while also providing a comfortable learning environment. My tutoring style is flexible because I believe that everyone learns a little differently! However, my chief objective while tutoring or teaching is that the student understands the process of how we arrive at an answer, as well as obtaining the answer.

Some information about me:

Graduating from Gordon University Manga Cum Laude, and from Georgia Southern University Cum Laude, I am finalizing my Doctoral Program with essentially most of my work now complete. While at school I have been a teaching assistant, and taught several classes of statistics and psychology. I also worked with sub-sections (groups) of classes in the following content areas: Statistics, Algebra I, Preaglebra, Elementary Mathematics, Writing, American History, and Government and Politics for the past twenty plus years with consistent outstanding results.

I have tutored students ranging from Junior High through College in those same areas for the past twenty years, especially Algebra I, Prealgebra, Elementary Math, and Writing.

I just began working in the Wyzant community of tutors a few weeks ago, and if you click on the Answers section of my profile you will be able to see not only the answers I provided students to their questions, but also the manner in which I explain the process to each student asking.

I look forward to answering any questions you may have setting up our first lesson.

Statistics

Statistics

For the past twenty years, I have tutored students from High School to College in the subject of Statistics. As a tutor I believe students need to have explanations as to the "why" and "how," versus just getting the "what" or answer to questions related to Statistics. Therefore, as much as possible, my chief concern is ensuring those I tutor have a full understanding by my making the material relevant to his or her everyday life, as much as possible. Statistics can be intimidating if not taught with this approach and I should I add that I consistently study the subject while seeking the most effective tutoring strategies. I have followed this process for the previous 20 plus years, beginning in my undergraduate program through my Doctoral training.
